Blakeslee Vacation, Day 1

Our first day of vacation officially started on July 2nd. We traveled to Tri Cities on Friday night, July 1st. It's always nice to get 3.5 hours of our trip out of the way in an evening. It breaks up the long drive.

We left Tri Cities around 1:00 p.m. The kids were all exhausted and fell asleep immediately. With all 4 kids asleep, it makes us want to travel as fast as we can. Sadly, it didn't last long. All 4 were awake within an hour (seriously??)

And within 2 hours of leaving, we already made our first stop. Chloe threw up in the car. Luckily, she threw up into a bag and didn't get any throw up on the car or herself, but we needed to dispose of the puke and give her some fresh air. It had only been 2 hours, but everyone was excited to get out and run.

We happened to pull over by a river and the kids loved that! And yes, Lexi has no pants. She pooped through them before we left Tri- Cities and I forgot them in the dryer at Ben's parents house. She was pantless all day.

The kids threw rocks in the river and Ben showed them how to skip rocks.

The rest of the trip was looong- Leah is a terrible traveler and after her first initial 45 minute nap, she did not fall asleep the rest of the trip except the 10 minutes before we arrived at my parents house at 10:30 p.m. If she wasn't screaming, whining or crying, she needed constant entertaining or attention. Can't wait until she is old enough to hopefully be entertained by DVD's like the older kids. We have 2 old iTouches that the babies loved to play with. Neither of them can say "Lexi" but they can both say "iPod." And those iPods were a great source of entertainment on the trip. They would play with the buttons and use them as phones and "take pictures" with them. The big kids would watch videos on them.

Poor Lexi was still sick and actually slept about 90% of the trip because she still felt so lousy from the croup. She ran a fever the whole ride and looked miserable. She's normally a good traveler anyway, but having her sick and sleeping most of the time worked out great since Leah screamed for a good portion of it and kept me busy.
